> The court yesterday,February 4, sentenced 140 motorcycle riders and their supporters to one month in jail for racing on a public street. The motorcycle riders and their friends,117 men and 23 women who are over 18 years old, were arrested by the police at 2am on Sunday as they raced on Rama VI road. They were charged with causing disturbance to other people and making an illegal race on the road. Those men who were guilty were sent to Ban Metta, and those women were sent to Ban Pranee for jail. Their parents said the punishment is too harsh for them because their children couldn’t be bailed to get out of jail and they think their children didn’t commit any crimes. So they should be released instead of being sent to jail. The chief of the jail said that these children must be disciplined by behavior change program before they can be released back to their home.
